Vitalising the learning experience

Many teachers and language teacher educators from western educational contexts assume that, unless language classes are highly interactive and activity-based, students will become bored and lose motivation. Rose takes the position that there are myriad ways of encouraging students to connect with what they are learning, and to be actively engaged in the learning process, even within traditional educational contexts where syllabuses must be closely followed. In this workshop participants will examine, discuss and evaluate a range of techniques for encouraging students to personalise their learning and to engage more creatively with learning tasks – thereby making the learning experience more dynamic, meaningful and memorable.
