What does a learner’s dictionary teach?

The presentation is based on the author’s experience of compiling a series of English-Russian and Russian-English Learner’s Dictionaries which include a systemic number of Usage Notes, Choice of Words, Cultural Notes, Ways of Doing Things, Imagery and Way of Thinking lexical commentaries. The presentation dwells on these and other types of linguistic information added to traditional lexicographic structure. Inter-linguistic comparisons allowed the author to make some non-trivial additional theoretical linguistic observations which the presentation dwells on.
